Angles captured. Four shots along a short section of bank — each a different fruitbody rather than different angles on one.

Morphology

A scatter of damaged fruitbodies: a white gilled fragment with the cap largely gone; a white-fleshed specimen with a red cap remnant still attached; a bright orange-yellow cap fragment lying loose; and a whitish specimen with splayed, torn gills. Flesh uniformly white and crumbly where broken — consistent with brittle-gilled fungi.

Habitat & substrate

Steep eroded soil bank above the trail, thin leaf cover, exposed roots. Heavily disturbed by slug and/or rodent grazing.

Lookalikes & what rules them out

Too damaged for confident work. Logged for the record because grazing pressure and the red/yellow/white colour spread here are themselves useful data.
