Morphology

Two spherical white fruitbodies, 3–4 cm, densely covered in sharp conical spines, narrowed to a short base, sitting in oak litter and grass.

Habitat & substrate

Oak leaf litter with grass on a slope.

Lookalikes & what rules them out

Dense conical spines on a white ball with a tapered base.

Notes

Corrected — these were wrongly pooled into the yellow-brown bolete entry. Fourth separate puffball of the day.
