Zoned brackets on rock
Trametes or Stereum Genus
Angles captured. Two frames from above and slightly to the side.
Morphology
A colony of thin, leathery, overlapping brackets 2–4 cm across, upper surface concentrically zoned in cream, grey-brown and buff with a white margin, finely velvety. Growing shelved along a substrate edge.
Habitat & substrate
On mossy woody debris against a rock, with pine needles and litter around.
Lookalikes & what rules them out
Trametes versicolor and Stereum ostrea are identical from above.
To confirm this identification
The underside. Fine white pores = Trametes; a smooth buff surface = Stereum. The same open question as TM0014 in Volume 1.
