Angles captured. Eleven frames and genuinely thorough — in situ from several angles, then lifted and turned to show the pore surface, the stipe and the base.
Morphology
Cap 8–10 cm, deep chestnut to purple-brown, dry, matte and finely velvety, broadly convex with an inrolled margin. Stipe stout, pale yellow to olive-buff, conspicuously darker and browner toward the base, without obvious reticulation. Pore surface pale olive-yellow. Flesh pale.
Habitat & substrate
Oak and beech leaf litter on level ground with low evergreen groundcover.
Lookalikes & what rules them out
The dark velvety cap over a yellow stipe suggests Xerocomellus, Baorangia or Tylopilus. Tylopilus felleus would have pinkish pores and a strongly reticulate stipe; neither is evident.
To confirm this identification
Cut it. Whether the flesh blues, and how fast, separates most of the candidates. Pore colour change on bruising matters too.
